Heiress, philanthropist and hit star of the Netflix reality series “Bling Empire,” Anna Shay, has died at the age of 62. According to a family statement sent to The Associated Press on Monday, Shay died of a stroke.

It was not immediately clear when he died. The family issued a statement saying they were “heartbroken to announce the passing of Anna Shay, a devoted mother, grandmother, charismatic star and our brightest ray of sunshine.”
“Anna taught us many lessons about enjoying the good things in life and not taking life too seriously. We will never forget her impact on our lives, but we will always miss her.
Shay, a Los Angeles socialite, made her fortune after she and her brother sold Pacific Architects and Engineers after their father passed away. She admitted to OprahMag.com in a 2021 interview that when she joined the cast of “Bling Empire,” which followed the lives of ultra-rich Angelenos of Asian descent, she had no idea what she was getting herself into.
Shay first believed that her friend Jeff Jenkins, the show’s executive producer, wanted her to work behind the scenes. “I was sitting in front of the camera the next thing I know. It was a challenge for me because I am very shy. Even at my age, I didn’t think about it,” she said. Comparisons have been drawn between the series and the popular movie “Crazy Rich Asians.” After three seasons and a 2021 premiere, the series was recently cancelled.
Shay was a mainstay of Los Angeles socialite and a fan favorite on the show. She was the only child of Ai-San, the wife of his half-Japanese, half-Russian, and American millionaire Edward Shay, founder of the defense and government services company.
The reality star grew up in Japan and was born there. Her only son, Kenny Kemp, also gained notoriety after briefly appearing on the show and amassing an expensive bong collection, reports BuzzFeed News.
