BBC breakfast looked a bit different on Friday morning as Naga Munchetty sat on the red sofa without her usual Charlie Stayt television co-star. Instead, the presenter appeared alongside Ben Thompson, who was also on the show for Thursday’s show, due to Charlie’s repeated absences.
Charlie and Naga are a familiar duo to the audience thanks to appearing on news programs from Thursday to Saturday every week.

Charlie has been a BBC TV presenter since 2006 and co-hosted with Naga since 2014. This week, however, Ben has joined for news and headlines with Naga.
But the change in presenters isn’t the only change BBC Breakfast has made. Due to continued coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the program was moved from the main channel, BBC One, to BBC Two, during the broadcast.

On Thursday, viewers were invited to change channels if they wanted to stay with the Breakfast team, as BBC One broadcast news of the first day of the football tournament being held in New Zealand.
Ben explained to viewers at home: “You watched Breakfast on BBC One. Now we’ll leave you here on BBC One because the next live broadcast is the FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.”

Naga continued: “If you want to stay with us, you can switch to BBC Two. We’ll be there until 9.” Although Ben has filled out Charlie and Jon Kay’s names this week, he’s no stranger to working on the BBC’s front lines.
He first joined the news program as a producer researching stories from around the world, before eventually moving to front of the camera in 2008 to become the BBC’s business correspondent for the Middle East.
