The man approached a 10 -year -old boy and tried to hijack him in the middle of the city.
Officers are invited to a junction of the Olympic Boulevard, through Urbis Romana and Flame Waya, in Colchester, Essex.
The boy approached an adult man around 8.10pm on Thursday.
The suspect is said to have escaped from the scene in a dark green car.
The boy was not injured or injured during an attempt to abduction.
The strength attracts witnesses to report any information.
Police spokesman Essex said: “We are invited to reports that a man approached a 10-year-old boy at the intersection of the Olympic Boulevard, through Urbis Romana and Flame Way around 8.10am yesterday, on Thursday, February 6th.
“The boy left the joint and told the adult and left the suspect, allegedly in a dark green car.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and our officers will be in this area of Colchester, doing further inquiries, so please contact us if you have information you think you might help us.
“We appeal to everyone in the area with the door shots or Dashcam at the time of the incident to get in touch with the quotation number 42/16971/25.”
