Call the Midwife welcomes back much-loved cast member for series 13

Call the Midwife has welcomed the return of the “much-favorite” cast for the upcoming 13th season of this popular historical drama.

Taking to its official Instagram page, the show revealed that Nate Court, who played Robert Dellow’s baby in the season 10 finale, will be returning to Poplar to play a cameo on the new series currently filming.

Sharing an adorable snap of Nate sitting on the knee of Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie Jackson, the film’s social media team wrote in the caption: “Awww! Daniel Laurie and Nate Court reunite on set for our latest shot on Call the Midwoman!

“This GREAT shot comes from Call the Midwife episode 13, where we are delighted to welcome a celebrity guest to Nonnatus’ home – beautiful young Nate Court!

“Nate was one of our most memorable babies as he played Robert Dellow in the deeply moving finale of Series 10. The Dellow family struggled to adapt to Robert’s diagnosis of Down syndrome – but Reggie’s love for Robert helped allay their fears.”

The post continued: “Nate is a much loved member of our Call the Midwoman family, so we’re delighted he was able to make a brief appearance in series 13 as a kid. But the best moment was when he and our Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie, were reunited – as these stunning images show!”

The show has remained tight-lipped about the story that brought Nate back to our screens, adding: “We won’t tell you how or why Nate got there – undisclosed! – but we can’t wait. to show you the end result.”

Fans were blown away by the post and taken to the comments section. One wrote: “I can’t wait, it’s going to be more fun than ever”, while another added: “Love this!!”

The film is also set to welcome two new additions to the cast, Renee Bailey and Natalie Quarry, who will play midwife-in-training, Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford.

Newcomers will join Nonnatus House as part of the midwifery student training program. Joyce, who hails from Trinidad, is set to become a nanny at a UK hospital and is described as “hardworking, intelligent and deeply kind” but has a “traumatic past she can’t hide forever”.

Meanwhile, Rosalind is “young, warm, passionate and witty.” Although she can seem innocent at times, she possesses “an iron heart that will lead her to make some life-changing decisions.”

Season 13 is set in 1969 and will tell stories from the Sylheti and Nigerian communities and from the harbours. The new episodes will cover topics such as cerebral palsy, congenital hip dysplasia, tetanus, porphyria, and tuberculosis.

Fans can expect the series to return to the big screen with a new Christmas special in December. New episodes from season 13 will premiere in January.
