In October 2023, Cher released her first holiday album, Christmas: a 13-song collection that featured collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Cyndi Lauper, covers of classics like Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run,” and originals like the dance-pop single “DJ Play a Christmas Song.”
“I wanted to do a Cher Christmas album,” she told PEOPLE of the project, “but I didn’t know how to do it. I could never figure out a way. So this year I just asked the label if they would just let me do it — and just them I hand over the finished product — and they agreed, so I started choosing the songs.”
For the record, Cher added: “We were doing them one at a time, so I realized I had a fun Christmas album that only had a few sad songs. I was really happy that it was eclectic, and it’s really eclectic. I was proud of that.” .”
