Facts about Gary Abernathy

Over the years, we’ve all heard analysts and pundits claim that America needs an “honest conversation about race.” But whenever these discussions occur, they quickly escalate into accusations of racism, a term whose definition has been expanded to include any statement that deviates from left-wing dogma on the subject.

Racism, or the idea that one group of people is fundamentally better or worse than another, is disgusting. The white supremacists who demonstrated in Charlottesville over the weekend exemplified that kind of racism. They drew large groups of anti-racist protesters, sparking violent clashes that eventually resulted in a deadly vehicle attack and a tragic helicopter crash.

Conversely, racism does not exist just because someone opposes sanctuary cities, supports crime prevention, wants to cut government spending on domestic programs, or disagrees with affirmative action programs. While you may argue that they are incorrect, these views are not inherently racist.

Everyone was anticipating what would happen after learning about the violence in Charlottesville. The Blame Trump Brigade will appear, as predictable as an April dandelion in bloom and always ready. Every president and Republican presidential candidate has been accused of inciting white anger or engaging in racist activities. The left and numerous media always use it. Under President Trump, the allegations have escalated to new ridiculous heights.

Critics claimed that the president did not respond within the allotted time on Saturday and that he subsequently used incorrect wording. But if Trump’s critics were honest, they would admit that they would still blame him for the events, even if he had read a statement they wrote saying exactly what they wanted, as he essentially did on Monday.

Last week I was visited by a professor of anthropology who is in the field of book research. He added that during his travels through the Midwest, he encountered several people waving the Confederate battle flag. He informed me, “They don’t really see it as racist,” with a sense of wonder. They consider it a symbol of independence.
