Since leaving the small farming town where she grew up, her faith has followed her through marriage, motherhood, general church leadership, public recognition of her husband’s vocation and, in recent years, through a disease that has shown his strength and character. After Elder Holland left town on a church assignment one cold fall night in 2014, Sister Holland went to sleep at her daughter’s house with a chest cold. The next morning she couldn’t breathe. Doctors have instructed Sister Holland’s husband to gather his family as she fights for her life in a hospital bed.
