Kelly Ripa teases future of Live alongside husband Mark Consuelos

This April, ABC’s premier daytime drama series, Live with Kelly and Ryanofficially became Live with Kelly and Mark after co-host of six years, Ryan Seacrest, left the chair.

In his place, Kelly Ripa was joined by husband Mark Consuelos, and although the season got off to a rough start with viewers eagerly clamoring for Ryan’s return, it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

On the July 24 episode of the daytime talk show, Kelly and Mark settled in to discuss some of the weekend’s biggest topics, looking even more adorable than usual.

While Kelly wore a pink and blue turtleneck dress with a tie-dyed pattern, Mark wore a fitted salmon polo shirt and jeans, and they alluded to their reason for showing up.

When Kelly, 52, noticed to the studio audience that Mark was even getting up earlier than usual to practice, Riverdale the star, also 52 years old, revealed they are filming a commercial for the upcoming fall livingit’s a sure sign that Mark’s co-host tenure will last at least another season.

“We’ll be shooting some stuff later today, new opening scenes for next fall,” he said, to warm applause from the crowd.

Kelly responded with a joke: “Is that why I’m so pretty today?” and Mark added, “That’s why I woke up and went to the gym before work today,” revealing that he opted for a grueling 4:30 a.m. workout.

In an interview with Variety prior to Ryan’s departure and the arrival of Mark, the former All my children the actress is outspoken about dealing with difficult transitions on Live, considering her husband as the fourth co-host she has had to work with on the show after Ryan, Michael Strahan and Regis Philbin.

“I can’t say enough. I had a really hard time. These transitions don’t have to be dramatic,” she told the news agency. “I know it feels like you don’t want to be somewhere.

“I come from an acting background and I’m an expert at being rejected. But getting rejected feels like a weird thing and at the same time I’m the one they want for the show.”

The news of Ryan’s passing, while not dramatic, was still emotional for the longtime ABC host, especially given the co-host’s passing history she’s gone through.

“Ryan and Mark said, ‘What are you worried about? Everything will be fine.’ And I told them, ‘You have to forgive me. I have mild PTSD,'” Kelly continued.

Ryan’s final episode aired on April 14, and Mark entered the newly baptized church. Live with Kelly and Mark April 17, with her daughter Lola Consuelos in the stands cheering them on.
