Late Led Zeppelin Drummer John Bonham Recalls Feeling 'Quite Strange' at Band's First-Ever Rehearsal in New Doc

Fans of LED Zeppelina are treated with newly -brought interviews with the late John Bonham in a new documentary on the band formation.

IN Becoming ice ZeppelinIn the theater, the drummer – whose sudden death at the age of 32 in 1980 caused the group to fall apart – heard through archival audio recordings from rare interviews he gave during his life.

The movie covers everything, from childhood Bonham and his colleagues Jimmy Page, Robert Plant Plant Paul Jones, to the formation of LED Zeppelina in 1968, through the band’s band in London’s Royal Albert Hall in January 1970. Includes Bonham’s own memories of the page meetings, now 81, and Jones, now 79, the first time for what has become the first rehearsal of LED Zeppelin.

“It was pretty strange, really, to meet John Paul and Jimmy,” says Bonham, who has already befriended and performed with Plant, now 76, in a documentary. The plant, page and Jones are shown to listen to Bonham’s interview with audio and archival photographs and recordings in the entire documentary, directed by Bernard MacMahon and Cowritten and produced by Allison McGourty. Macmahon and McGourty filmmakers tell people that Bonham’s wife Pat and his sister Deborah provided archival recordings and materials for the use of the film. The surviving members contributed a significant number of personal possessions and archives.
