Lil' Kim Addresses Backlash After She Called for a 'Monsoon' to Combat Los Angeles Fires: 'What's the Issue?'

Lil’ Kim is facing backlash after her comments about the LA fires.

On Tuesday, January 14, the rapper posted her prayers on X for those affected by the devastating fires across Los Angeles. “Sending strong prayers for LA and everyone affected by the fires,” she wrote.

“This is heartbreaking,” Lil’ Kim, 50, added. “I’m praying to Jesus that God makes LA have a monsoon.” Many fans online seemed shocked and confused by her post in which she called for another natural disaster.

“That might not be the best answer…” one user wrote. “Make it a monsoon? A disaster on top of an existing disaster? No ma’am,” said another. Others responded with pictures and gifs of confused expressions.

Two days later, the rapper – whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones – took to the internet to double down on her previous post. “What’s happening is devastating and what LA really needs right now is rain—so what’s the problem?” she wrote on X.

“Doesn’t everyone understand that monsoon is heavy rain? I’m so happy to see everyone staying so positive during such a tragic situation.” Lil’ Kim then asked her fans to continue to pray and support those in need.

Once again, fans had their opinions on her post. “We know what you were thinking, but heavy rain would cause landslides, flooding, high winds or more damage,” one fan pointed out.

“This makes no sense, they have nowhere to go if it’s raining! Girl delete this post!” the other answered. “Sister, we knew you knew you had pure intentions! Monsoon isn’t the answer after all 😭,” added a third, giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Lil’ Kim followed up the post with a screenshot defining what a monsoon is: “a seasonal change in wind direction that can cause extremely wet or dry weather.”

“For anyone who is confused. Do you have any questions?” she added. Lil’ Kim has yet to follow up on her previous posts.
