Louis Herthum (born July 5, 1956) is an American producer and actor. Herthum has performed in theatre, television and film, as well as in national television commercials. He is best known for playing Detective Andy Broom in the series Murder, She Wrote, and Peter Abernathy in the HBO series Westworld.

Biography of Louis Herthum
Louis Herthum (born July 5, 1956) is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and an actor/producer. Louis began his career as an actor in 1978, appearing in local theatre, local and regional television commercials and print ads. He moved to Los Angeles in 1982 to develop his acting career.
Career
- Herthum began her acting career in 1978, appearing in local theatre, local and regional television commercials as well as print ads. He joined the cast of Murder, She Wrote in 1991, after years as an unknown actor; played Deputy Andy Broom in 25 episodes of the show’s final five seasons (1991–1996).
- Prior to playing Broom, he played two separate characters in his first television appearances, beginning in 1989. He had a strong relationship with Angela Lansbury. In a 2015 interview, he said that at the age of 89, he watched her take on a performance of Blithe Spirit at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, California.
- He has starred in CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, True Blood (he joined the cast in 2011 for seven episodes of the fifth season), JAG, The Mentalist, Men of an Age, True Detective, Treme, Breaking Bad, and The Gates.
- In 2016, he appeared in two news TV shows. He plays Omar in Netflix’s Longmire and Peter Abernathy, the host (robot) on HBO’s Westworld.
- Herthum was elevated to the starring role in the second season of Westworld after playing a recurring character in the first season. He joins the cast of Amazon Prime Video’s The Peripheral in June 2021.
- Electric Fog, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I Love You, Phillip Morris, American Inquisition, The Open Road, Tekken, 12 Rounds, The Gap Between Seconds and The Last Exorcism are among his film credits.
- After completing the final episode of Murder, She Wrote in March 1996, Herthum shifted his focus to film production, returning to his hometown of Baton Rouge to make his first feature film, Favorite Son.
- Baton Rouge-based Ransack Films has since produced five feature films, one feature-length documentary (The Season Before Spring) and one short (“The Grapevine”).
