From time to time we get the chance to interview independent musicians who we think have what it takes to become household names. One of those musicians is named Mitch Rossell. Rossell has definitely discovered his passion as a musician. This week’s Swag Spotlight is on Rossell, who has a new song called “Ran into You” with Trisha Yearwood, as well as his background in country music, his time on stage with the late Garth Brooks, and his background as a performer.
Rossell was familiar with country life because she grew up in a small town in East Tennessee. She tells us that she has always been passionate about music and that “my dad was the one she really connected with musically.” “My dad was definitely a big fan of country music.
Rossell always loved spending time with his family listening to music, but he pursued other interests first. Before turning to golf, he played baseball and even won three majors in the same year. He remembered how he was burned out and always wanted to explore other interests, even though he loved athletics. However, he did not think of creating a musical career.
That would eventually change when Rossell’s father tragically passed away the summer before college, inspiring him to pursue something his father had always wanted to do: play guitar. “When he died, I just promised myself that he would learn in time.
Today, Rossell is considered by fans and critics to be a protégé of Garth Brooks in the country music industry. Rossell is the sole songwriter for Garth Brooks’ number one song “Ask Me How I Know” and co-wrote his follow-up singles “All Day Long” and “Dive Bar” when it comes to writing music for the iconic artist. Rossell knew he was finally in the right place when he got the chance to open for Brooks on his sold-out world tour and even shared the stage with the singer during one of the shows. He describes it as “quite an amazing experience”, adding: “It was all quite surreal for me.”
The singer-songwriter and Trisha Yearwood recently released the lovely and soulful song “Ran into You.” Rossell was delighted with the song that she had worked so hard on after working up the courage to approach the superstar and join him on the track.
“I have known Trisha for several years and am a huge fan of not only who she is as a person, but her musical and vocal abilities as well. She is just a damn force,” I said, adding that her talent was one of the purest things she had ever witnessed. Surely she was meant for it.
