I usually wake up five minutes before the alarm. On a regular day to get the kids out and on the road, my alarm is set for 6:55. I spend a lot of time at night, but I go straight to my day. I get up very quickly and start the day with energy.
I’m a natural early bird. My husband Billy [Crudup] is a night person. I’m usually upstairs in front of him and let him sleep.

When I first open my eyes, I might think about the dream I had and wrote it down. I think that what happens in the night unconsciousness can give you clues, messages that could be helpful for my day’s work. That sounds a bit woo-woo, but I often analyze dreams.

The first thing I attend to is taking my dog Izzy out which often happens earlier than I would like. We’re in an apartment in New York, and sometimes I’ve been thankful there’s no paparazzi outside because I’m still in my pajamas under my coat and my hair is everywhere.

Next I try to wake up the children [Sasha, 17, and Kai, 16]. They definitely need time. I’m happy if I can shove the toast down my throat before it leaves. It always feels a bit chaotic in the morning with teenagers.
I drink black coffee. I used to be a cappuccino girl, but I went straight to black coffee after I moved to America. I have one of those percolator machines and I use Peet’s coffee.

I work every morning. I play on the Wordle chain. I’m very competitive with games and we have seven or eight people on our chain. Whoever won the day before chooses the word. I like to do it before 10 o’clock

Exercise sets the day for me. Most of the exercise I do now is strength training. I still love yoga, but mostly lift weights. Sometimes I go to the gym and sometimes I do it alone with a video. Keith Anthony is a guy I met in class a long time ago. Now he has a website and he has recordings, so I just do his videos.
After my workout, I’ll cook eggs with either avocado and tomato or yogurt with berries and granola. I like not to eat before I work out.
