Sometimes watching Outlander is like watching a horror movie. You want to scream at the characters for making decisions you would never have made yourself. Don’t break up! Don’t befriend him! Don’t get pregnant with a child and then fight for the other side of the army, you are part of a devoted soldier! Unfortunately, in episode six, our favorite Frasers made some very questionable decisions, and we’re here to talk about them in our weekly Outlander Insider…
While a lot happened in the previous episode, I think our main disappointment comes from William’s apparent determination to meet everyone in the Fraser family except the really important one; his father, Jamie. In this episode, William meets Claire and reunites with Ian, known as his stepmother and cousin. And since he met Brianna, we’ve practically finished all of the Frasers available in the US.
Like Gwenyth in Sliding Doors, it’s incredibly frustrating when William and Jamie walk past each other without ever actually seeing each other – because we know it’s all worth it when they meet, right? YES, STARZ?!

Meanwhile, Claire engages in her favorite activity of breaking away from the group and abducting, this time for the Red Jackets in an exciting return to filming the first season – but this time she’s lucky enough to meet William (we may have mentioned) instead of landing in Black Jack Randall’s lap.

After spending time tending to the sick and injured, Claire abandons them all after leaving with Ian when she tells her that a daring rescue attempt has been made, and that Ian is able to save Claire with William’s reluctant help. See how the Fraser family gets along!

Ian also reunites with the only important thing, Rollo! Oh, Rachel Hunter was there too. The two seem to have gotten along well and we’re very invested in Rachel being part of the Fraser family. Is it too early to propose?!

Meanwhile, in the 20th century, Brianna is fascinated by a new portal she discovers, mysteriously different from the classic ‘stone’ gates we know and love. Combine this with the final moments of the episode, where Roger discovers what looks like an 18th-century man in his garden, is this portal really a way for people from Past into the future? We are definitely curious!

We’re less suspenseful as Roger seems to be friends with Rob Cameron, who, if you recall, locked Roger’s beloved wife in the Vault just in the last episode. However, a little Gallic enthusiasm was all it took for Roger to win over, and he and Rob went for a drink. And we will assume that this may not go well.
