Paul Reubens, best known for his role as Pee-Wee’s Herman, referred to his controversial past before he died in 2023.
In the upcoming HBO documentary series Pee-wee like he aloneThe late actor – who died of cancer on July 30, 2023. – He spoke openly that he was labeled a “pedophile” after being arrested on an indictment of rude exposure in 1999 and possession of materials showing children under the age of 18 as sexual they behave in 2002.

He continues, “The moment I heard someone labeled me like – I’ll just say it – pedophile, I knew it would change everything that moves forward and backwards.”
In 1991, Reubens was arrested and charged with rude exposure to China for adults, an accusation he did not challenge. And a decade later, in 2001, his home was searched and it was reported that pornographic material was discovered in his possession that includes minors. Next year, I signed up for possession of materials that show the sexual relationship of children under the age of 18.
In 2004, a misdemeanor case was dismissed when Reubens acknowledged guilty of a smaller accusation. After the case was settled, the actor spoke about the accusations, claiming he was innocent.
The cause of Paul Reubens’ death confirmed a month after the actor passed away at the age of 70.

The new documentary series assumes that the legal problems of the late actor – and media coverage – came from prejudice to Reubens because he was gay, according to La Times.

After Reubens distanced himself from the project and postponed his latest interview, the title card explains: “The day before he died, he decided to record the audio himself.”
“I wanted to talk about it and have some understanding of how it is to be labeled as a parry, when people are afraid of you, or they are not sure of you, or they don’t believe you, or look at their intentions through some kind of filter that is not true, “Reubens shares the recording. “I wanted people to realize that occasionally, where there is smoke, there is not always fire.”
