Tracie Thoms rose to fame in Hollywood after starring in the 2005 film Rent. She played Joanne Jefferson opposite Mimi Marquez Rosario Dawson. During their time working together, they became great friends and have maintained their relationship after all these years. They are quite close, which raises questions about her love life. Did Tracie Thoms ever date Rosario Dawson?
At first, speculation about a possible relationship between Thoms and Dawson was mild. However, when a seemingly personal photo of the two appeared in 2007, it all fell apart. People began to believe that they were a legitimate couple. On May 22, 2007, Rosario and Thoms attended the 60th Cannes Film Festival. When they met at the event, they greeted and kissed. The kiss should have been on the cheek. However, the camera’s poor viewing angle resulted in images that appeared to show them about to kiss on the lips.
Speaking to Chattify in October 2011, Thoms said: “Rosario kissed my cheek and I was doing my face, so the photographer was in the perfect spot. However, the angle of the photographer seems to show us kissing on the lips.”
She was also worried about how she would be perceived by the media after the photo went viral. “They don’t say I’m gay. They don’t care about my sexual orientation,” she said. She then went on to point out that she was heterosexual and reprimanded the media for making a big deal out of it with a misinterpreted image without knowing the truth.
With that statement, he basically denied ever dating Dawson. However, unlike the photo, the interview never went viral and many people still believe that she had an affair with Dawson. Her suspicions of homosexuality persisted because of her appearances in film and television.
