Who Is Carlos Anthony From “Superchef Grudge Match”?

Carlos Anthony, a celebrity chef, will appear in the upcoming Food Network reality series Superchef Grudge Match 2023. Anthony will face off against mentor and Bravo TV personality Brian Malarkey, who will face off against his pupil in the reality series that premieres February 7. Superchef Grudge Match 2023, hosted by celebrity chef, restaurateur and businessman Darnell Fergusson, will feature chefs going head-to-head to resolve their hostile differences. Winners will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a valuable knife from the defeated chef, and lifetime bragging rights against their opponents.

According to Food Network’s official synopsis for the episode titled Defending Domination:

“Darnell “Super Chef” Ferguson brings to the center ring two world-class culinary matches to resolve a longstanding culinary feud. In the first battle, Chef Carlos Anthony challenges Chef Brian Malarkey, his mentor for ten years, to show that he has finally overtaken the master.

Meet Chef Carlos Anthony, a San Diego chef who has won numerous culinary reality TV shows.

Carlos Anthony, a 36-year-old American chef, has been working in the culinary industry for over 16 years. Carlos is the executive chef at Herb & Wood in San Diego and previously worked at Hillcrest’s Salt and Cleaver Sausage Café for nine years. Over the years, San Diego’s celebrity chef has acquired amazing culinary skills and learned a lot from mentor, seasoned restaurateur and legendary Top Chef Brian Malarkey.

Carlos was born in Tucson, Arizona and started cooking in his grandmother’s kitchen. He graduated from law school and decided to pursue his passion for cooking. His first job as a chef was at Old Chicago Pizza, a pizzeria next door. Additionally, he worked at Searsucker and Taco Asylum Gourmet Tacos in Costa Mesa, where he honed his skills.

In 2013, Carlos opened his own restaurant, Salt and Cleaver, where he also worked as a chef. He then closed his restaurant and went to work at Brian Malarkey’s Herb & Wood in Little Italy. Chef Malarkey and his team are very helpful to Carlos. Once a member of the newly formed Searsucker team, he worked for many years at Malarkey’s cloth-themed restaurants – Searsucker, Burlap and Gabardine.

Carlos Anthony made his television debut in Cutthroat Kitchen Season 7 Episode 2 (February 22, 2015). He ultimately won the round, grossing $9,900, beating seasoned judge and chef Jet Tila, who was also supposed to appear in the Food Network’s next series.

The Decisive Match The Tournament of Champions between Carlos Anthony and Jet Tila has been billed as the “David vs. Goliath” battle. Carlos then landed a role on Discovery Channel’s Chopped: Next Generation in 2021, as well as a food show called Jackfruit Kitchen.

Carlos’ specialty at Herb & Wood is oxtail gnocchi. Carlos commented on the delicacy for Beyondish:

“Our oxtail gnocchi is a simple recipe that takes four people and three days to prepare. It’s not the most original dish as it only contains oxtail and gnocchi, but it takes time and effort to prepare. The meticulous preparation of each dish is what makes the meal so delicious.

Carlos Anthony currently controls a substantial and profitable restaurant brand with approximately 15 locations across the United States. The San Diego chef is unmarried but is currently dating Allison O’Neil. Carlos Anthony first revealed his relationship in January 2021 through an Instagram post. His net worth is said to be around $1 million.

Carlos Anthony will be competing in the 2023 Super Chef Hate Match against some new contenders.

Darnell “Super Chef” Ferguson, co-host of America’s Worst Chefs, will stage a showdown between competing chefs on the show, which is slated to air February 7th. 2023. Chef Antonia Lofaso challenges Jet Til to a rematch in their Tournament of Champions semi-final, which Jet won by a point.
