Lenny Kravitz was born on May 26, 1964, to Roxie Rocker and Sy Kravitz. Manhattan, New York, is his birthplace. He is the only child in the family. Kravitz’s mother is an actress and his father is a television news producer for NBC. Kravitz is the grandson of Leonard M. Kravitz, for whom he is named. His uncle was killed during the Korean War when he was 19 years old.
