Tolo lived a life that no dog deserves. He spent nearly a decade alone on the streets of Lօs Angeles, fighting for himself. As the years passed, Solo became ill and too old to keep up with the other dogs, ilovemydogsomuch wrote
Finally, he was too tired and weak to walk, and he went down to the women’s porch. When the woman spotted him, she called him ֔օlօvino (Spanish for “he came alone)” and called Rocket Dog Rescue for help.
The rescue team took him to San Francisco, where he went to live with his adoptive parents. Unfortunately, Ιօlo has been adopted several times, but has been returned multiple times through no fault of his own.
Until one day Carol Messina saw pictures of Sol on the internet and immediately knew she had to save him.
“When I met him and saw how sad he was, I knew he would be with me forever no matter what,” Messina told The Dodo.
Due to Sol’s past, he is very shy and still doesn’t fully trust humans. He doesn’t react typically to those around him and will flinch whenever someone caresses him.
But Messina soon realized that it was not a matter of trust but a matter of hearing. Turns out Solo’s hearing is much worse than people thought – he’s actually deaf. This explains why he will flinch when someone touches him; He doesn’t feel comfortable with people stalking him when he can’t hear them coming.
His teeth are also very bad and cause him a lot of pain. Luckily, Messina operated on his teeth, and then he behaved like a brand new dog! It’s clear that the pain is affecting the way he behaves.
