13 Continues 30 is getting a musical adaptation!
On Thursday, multiple outlets reported that screenwriters Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, who penned the 2004 Jennifer Garner rom-com, have teamed up again to help create the upcoming theatrical version.
The production runs a two-week workshop at London’s Battersea Arts Center in October, with four public performances – described by the theater as a “scripted workshop presentation” with a live band – scheduled for October 25-28.
The musical adaptation was directed by Andy Fickman, who directed in 2006 She is a man and Roku’s 2022 stage recording Heathers: The Musical. Goldsmith and Yuspa, who also collaborated on the 2000s What women wantwrote the book while Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary wrote the music for the musical.

“When we turned our pain from high school into a movie 13 Continues 30we never imagined it would stick around to this day like rom-com parents showing their kids, a Halloween costume, a scene in an Ariana Grande music video, and a teenage sleepover,” Goldsmith and Yuspa said in a joint statement, per multiple outlets. .
“Now we are thrilled to be taking our pain across the pond 13 Continues 30 Musical. It’s been endless fun working with ROYO, Todd Garner, Revolution Studios, composer-lyricists Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and director Andy Fickman to reimagine this story for the London stage,” they continued. “We can’t wait for a new generation to grab Razzle and to feel at 30, flirtatious and advanced.”

Casting has yet to be announced, but the musical’s production team expects to resume workshops in October with full production scheduled for summer 2025. Playroom.
Adaptation plans 13 Continues 30 for the stage appear to date from 2016, when Deadline first reported that Fickman, Goldsmith and Yuspa were planning to bring the play to Broadway. That production, however, never took off.

Original 13 Continues 30 the film starred Christa B. Allen as a 13-year-old girl in 1987, who unexpectedly gets her wish to become “30, flirty and successful” and wakes up in New York City circa 2004 as an adult, played by Garner.
In the film, Mark Ruffalo played the main lover, Matty, in a cast that also included Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, Jim Gaffigan, Phil Reeves and Lynn Collins.
