28-Lb. Cat Named ‘One Frosty Too Many’ Wants to Slim Down and Find a Family for the New Year

In 2024, a Virginia shelter cat hopes to heal and find love.

Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) shared on social media that one of their cats, who has an occasional frosty demeanor and large body — earning her the name “One Frosty Too Many” — is looking for her forever home in 2024.

The organization described the gray and white cat with golden eyes, called Frosty for short, as “28.5 lbs. fat with a hint of grumpiness” and shared a photo of the light-furred pet being held by one of the animal care staff.

“As long as you let him do what he wants, when he wants, he’s fine; however, we recommend proceeding with caution,” RACC said, adding, “Let’s find him a home.”

The organization also noted that it may take some time for Frosty to outgrow his “skinny” habits, which they think will happen when he “slowly and properly” loses weight. The shelter hopes he will become “happier” when he does.

In a follow-up Facebook post about Frosty released Wednesday, the shelter noted that the cat has made great strides in socialization since arriving at RACC.

“This gentleman has definitely come out of his shell since we last posted him. Frosty is sweet, cuddly, gentle and just wants to sit by his human all day,” RACC wrote alongside a video of Frosty taking in pets.

“He can still get up and move around quite easily, so his weight loss journey shouldn’t be a difficult feat. Frosty doesn’t like the shelter though, so we turned one of our cat rooms into a Frosty Exclusive room!” he added a shelter.

According to the RACC, Frosty is still available for adoption, and the shelter is currently accepting email inquiries to set up an “adoption appointment” to meet the cat,

Cloths for 40-lb. Rescue Cat is adjusting to her new home and viral fame just fine, owner says

This isn’t the first time Richmond Animal Care and Control has turned to the public for help finding a home for a cat that wants to lose weight. In April, the organization announced that the 40-lb. a cat named Patches found his forever home less than a day after the organization shared a post on Facebook citing the pet’s best qualities.

The Facebook post read: “Meet Patch; all 40.3 POUNDS of him! He’s on a very special diet, has an exercise plan and is super cute.”

After Patches was adopted, RACC posted a video on Facebook of his new owner, Kay Ford, carrying him out of the facility in a large cage.

Ford shared the news a few weeks later, saying Patches has adjusted well to her new abode, which she shares with her other pets: a friendly cat named Wellesley and a 13-year-old Yorkie named Bella.

He’s also enjoying his new diet and activity plan, which includes consistent food portions and increased playtime to help him gradually lose weight. Ford noted that Patches is doing “great,” adding, “He’s beautiful.”
