3 Women Returning from Baby Shower Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver in California: Police

Three women have died after their car collided with an allegedly drunk driver in California.

Alejandra Olaez, 33, her sister-in-law Yesenia Olaez, 33, and family friend Lorena Morales, 58, were killed Saturday in Pomona, according to a news release from the Pomona Police Department.

The statement added that officers arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Saturday at 10:59 p.m., where “all parties involved were moderately to seriously injured.”

“Pomona Police officers and LA County Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the individuals at the scene, unfortunately 2 passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” the police statement continued.

“3 more people from one of the vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital where one of the drivers unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and died.”

The driver of the other car, who was the sole occupant of the SUV, was identified as Victor Siharath, 36. Officers at the scene determined he was driving while impaired and was subsequently arrested for felony DUI, the police statement added.

According to ABC7, the three victims were returning from bathing Morales’ granddaughter’s child in Moreno Valley when the incident occurred.

Marolaes was driving a car with her husband, Juan Garcia, in the passenger seat when the accident happened, the media added.

Garcia was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while Alejandra’s 12-year-old daughter, Naomi, was also taken to the hospital and placed in the intensive care unit, ABC7 continues.

Alejandra’s sister-in-law Yesenia was also in the process of adopting her 11-year-old nephew, according to ABC7.

“She was a loving mother,” Yesenia’s nephew Brian Gonzalez said at a vigil Sunday at the outlet. “I feel like her time was too short. Even though I know she died peacefully and she died loving me. I wanted her to see me grow up.”

“I have nothing more to say about her,” Blanca Gonzalez said of her sister to KTLA 5. “She was the best sister … and the best person in our family.”

GoFundMe pages have been set up for all three women, Yesenia Olaez, Lorena Morales, Alejandra Olaez, who lost their lives.
