The security guard appeared in court today
The 35-stone shopping center security officer appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today to face the charges – solicitation to commit murder and incitement to commit abduction – with This Morning presenter Holly as the alleged target.
It is claimed that Plumb possessed a “weapon” and contacted the killer in America to carry out a “detailed plan”.
According to the charges, he allegedly “persuaded, encouraged, persuaded, attempted to persuade or suggested” the murder of Holly.
Plumb is also said to have encouraged a man living in the US to travel to the UK and to have “assembled abduction and tying equipment capable of instigating or assisting the commission of the abduction of Holly Willoughby”.
Plumb, who works at Pinnacles Shopping Center in Harlow, Essex, would only speak to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
The defendant, who was wearing a green T-shirt with the slogan “Aged to Perfection”, was remanded in custody to next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on November 3.
The father was arrested by Essex Police on Wednesday after the alleged plot was uncovered.
Holly, 42, was forced to step down as host of This Morning yesterday, to be replaced by Alison Hammond.
Show bosses were informed shortly before it was due to go on air.
Holly was left “shocked and distraught” after police uncovered the alleged kidnapping plot.
The mother of three is under police surveillance at the home she shares with her husband, Dan Baldwin.
It has now emerged that Plumb appeared in a 2018 BBC documentary about weight loss.
He tipped the scales at 35 percent after bingeing on fast food and downing 36 pints of Coke a week.
The former Pizza Hut and McDonald’s worker claimed that due to his size, he could not leave his apartment for at least years.
He said: “It’s a vicious cycle. When I’m depressed, I eat – and when I eat, I’m depressed.
“It was hard for me to walk around for a long time. But when I got to the point where I couldn’t go out, it really hit me.”
Holly recently returned to This Morning after a two month summer break.
She hosted This Morning alongside a rotating list of presenters after Phillip Schofield left the daytime show.
He resigned in May after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague.
Holly later told viewers she felt “shaken and let down” after Schofield lied to her about the encounter.
An ITV spokesman said: “This news has come as a huge shock to everyone at This Morning and ITV.
“We are providing all the support we can to Holly and her family at this incredibly difficult time.”
