A six-year-old Texas boy named Jeremy is in intensive care after he was allegedly attacked by a neighbor in his home.
In a statement shared by the Texas Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the reported attack is being considered a “random act.” They added that “the public is no longer in danger.”
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on September 11, deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in progress at a home located on Rock Mill Loop in Georgetown, according to a Facebook statement.

The Facebook post went on to identify Daniel Logan, who the sheriff’s office said trespassed into a neighbor’s home and beat the child with a baseball bat.
“Through investigation, detectives determined that Logan forced his way into the home armed with a baseball bat and assaulted two individuals including a 6-year-old child,” the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. “Both victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment.”
The 39-year-old is charged with two first-degree felonies: injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. According to local Austin news station Fox-7, Logan also allegedly hit his 65-year-old mother, Cynthia Logan, with the bat.

Online court records show a mental health evaluation was ordered for Logan on Sept. 12.
His attorney, Marc Chavez, told PEOPLE in a statement, “Our hearts and prayers go out to the boy and his family during this difficult time. While the allegations sound troubling, we ask that everyone withhold judgment until all the facts come to light, especially while we investigate the issues associated with serious mental illness.Until that time comes, we will continue to hope for the best [recovery] for a young man.”
A GoFundMe page created by Laila Dabbakeh and the child’s father, Arturo Diaz, asked members of the Teravista community to help Jeremy in any way they can — whether it’s donating money or volunteering in some capacity.
The collector pointed out that the boy is “currently fighting for his life after a horrific attack that left him in a critical condition. But together, we can be the glimmer of hope he so desperately needs.”

Due to the reported unprovoked attack at his home, the boy is now left “with severe injuries and a long, uncertain road to recovery,” according to the GoFundMe post.

“When a child is subjected to such a vicious attack while sleeping peacefully in the safety of their own bed inside their own home, words can hardly convey the depth of this tragedy,” an updated version of the GoFundMe said Monday.

Logan’s wife reportedly told detectives that she was awakened by loud banging on the morning of the incident, according to USA Today.
After being unable to locate her husband, she went outside and saw a hole in the fence between her house and a neighbor’s house. In the affidavit, she said she noticed broken glass near a neighbor’s back door before allegedly hearing Jeremy’s mother scream.
According to the affidavit, Logan’s mother was allegedly covered in blood and “screaming frantically that Daniel was killing everyone inside.”
