The note is the second of its kind, following the issuance of a commemorative note in 1997 to mark Pakistan’s Golden Jubilee. In April 2023, the 75-rupee note was reported to be facing difficulties in gaining widespread acceptance as legal tender. The 75 rupee note is predominantly green in color, accompanied by shades of white and yellow. The color green symbolizes growth and development, reflecting Pakistan’s Islamic identity. The presence of white emphasizes the religious diversity within the country’s population.

The obverse of the note features portraits of notable personalities, including Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Iqbal, and Fatima Jinnah. On the other hand, there are images of Markhor and Deodar trees on the reverse side of the note. These images symbolize Pakistan’s commitment to face the challenges brought by climate change and its consequences. SBP Chief Financial Officer Qader Bakhsh said the Rs 75 note is the third commemorative note issued by SBP in its three-quarters of a century history. The two previous banknotes were issued to commemorate the 50 and 75 years since the founding of the state.

The note was issued in 2022 to mark the country’s 75 years of independence and featured photographs of Quaid-i-Azam, Fatima Jinnah and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
