How to take screenshots in Windows 10?

Method 1 – Use the Print Screen button

The first and easiest way is to use the Print Screen key/shortcut to take a screenshot in Windows. The key is ‘prntscn’. You can easily find this key on the top row of the keyboard where the F# function keys are located. So, capture the entire screen for a screenshot, and to save it, all you have to do is press the Windows key and the Print Screen key and you have a captured screen.

Your screen will dim slightly to indicate that a screenshot has just been taken, and then you can find the captured screenshot in the “Pictures” section of your device.

Method 2: Press Alt + Prt Sc.

If you are looking for ways to take a screenshot on Windows with an active window, then you can easily go for this method.

  • For this, all you need to do is press Alt + Prt Sc on your device. alt + prt
  • To do this, in order to take a screenshot of the currently active window, you must first select the window by clicking on it, and only then you can take a screenshot the way you want.

Method 4 – Use the Snipping Tool

Did you know that your device already has a tool that allows you to take screenshots of any screen and of any size? Well, if you weren’t, now you are. There is a tool called Snipping Tool on your Windows device which is exclusively made for screen recording. Let’s learn how to take a screenshot in Windows using the Snipping Tool:

  • Just type ‘snipping tool’ in the search bar of the search option.
  • Click the Crop tool. A rectangular box will appear on the screen. click on the cut tool
  • Then launch the screen you want to capture and click the ‘+’ sign on the snipping tool.
  • The screen will go dark and you can drag the down arrow on the screen to take a screenshot.
  • Once this is done, you can save the file to the desired partition on your device.

Note: Using the snipping tool to take a screenshot on your computer will not automatically save the file to your device. For that you will have to do it manually by right-clicking on the captured screenshot.

If you want to take a screenshot of a page that doesn’t let you press any other buttons, like the Gmail settings bar, you can set a timer in the snipping tool and it won’t start until after that. Here’s how to record your computer screen:

  • Launch the snipping tool on your device.
  • There, from its top menu, click on the Clock icon to set the timer.click clock
  • Select the time for which you want to delay the clip; 2, 5, 10 or 15 seconds. select the time
  • After that, when you click the ‘+’ sign, the recording will start after the desired time you just set. And there you are, done

Method 5 – Use the Snip & Sketch App

Now that you are familiar with the Snipping Tool, you should be familiar with Snip & Sketch. The app has recently replaced the snipping tool on all Windows devices. If you want to customize, share, or even annotate your screenshot, Snip & Sketch is the perfect app for you. Let’s see how to capture screen in Windows using Snip & Sketch:

  • Activate Snip & Sketch on your Windows device by pressing Windows Key + Shift + S or simply find it in the main menu.
  • When the app launches, your screen will dim slightly, just like in the snipping tool, and a menu will appear at the top of the screen.
  • You will see a free-form rectangular window or a screenshot of the entire computer screen that is required to capture the screen on the device.
  • There you will also have the option to choose how you want to take the screenshot. Most of these are the same options found in the Snipping Tool.
  • You will get Rectangular PC Screen, FreeForm Snip, Window Snip along with full screen screenshot or its cutout.
  • When you take a screenshot, it will automatically copy it to the clipboard.
  • You can then paste the clip into any document like a Word file or even Google Docs.
  • And if you open a clip from the app only, a new window will open with the clip.

Since the tool is mostly similar to the trim tool, you can easily delay recording by setting a timer on it. What has changed are the recording forms you can take-

  • Freeform Crop: Draw a freeform around the object.
  • Rectangular Clip: Drag the cursor around the clip to form a rectangle-like shape.
  • Window Clip: Select a window, such as a window dialog, that you want to capture.
  • Full Screen Clip – Capture the entire Windows screen.

Note:The easiest and easiest way to capture a Snip & Sketch tool is by pressing Windows + Shift + S keys.

Also, with Snip & Sketch, when you take a photo, unlike the Snipping Tool, it will be automatically saved to your device. So you won’t have to manually save the screenshot to your files.
