Barbenheimer lives!
A new film encompassing the summer of 2023 blockbuster madness is coming from producer Charles Band, via his Full Moon Features label, he confirmed to PEOPLE.
“With such a divided world and so many genre films focusing on things that depress, with BarbenheimerI just want to make a fun, cool, funny little weird movie that brings people together with laughter and fun — that reminds us that movies can just be an escape from reality,” says Band, 71, who is known for his work in the horror and horror-comedy genres. , from The puppet master movies on Trancers and Gingerdead Man film series.
The band first spoke to The Hollywood Reporter eye Barbenheimerwhich features the cheeky tagline “D-Cup, A-Bomb” and capitalizes on a phenomenon that began in late July, when viewers saw two completely different movies — Greta Gerwig Barbie and Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer — in the same weekend (sometimes even as a double feature on the same day!).
“We’re creating a crazy, candy-colored party that combines two movies that literally have nothing in common, yet when they come together, they make perfect — and perfectly weird — bedfellows,” the producer tells PEOPLE. “That’s what I wish we could do in real life (as opposed to life on a reel).”

Barbenheimer! PEOPLE staff recaps their 5-hour experiences watching ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’

“On top Barbenheimer movie, Full Moon will add some crazy merchandise to our already robust toy line, including a Dr. Barbenheimer action figure riding a nuclear missile a la Dr. Strangelove,” the band tells PEOPLE. “This is going to be fun and I’m really excited to be able to do it Barbenheimer in life!”
In the weeks leading up to the July 21 release date of both Barbie and Oppenheimerthe internet coined the term “Barbenheimer” to refer to the viral trend that’s causing fans to watch both films.
Even the stars of the films in question said it would be fine to watch the competition. Cillian Murphy — who is making headlines Oppenheimer as the actual father of the atomic bomb, J.
