Violet the dog was placed in December 2016 on a relatively abandoned sounding site.

The compound Violet and five others were staying at was in New Mexico, where it was illegal to chain them up unless they were under mortal supervision.
They asked the county sheriff to come to the property to try to find the owners, but it appears these people have been abandoned. NMDOG took down all of them, including Violet, and the road to recovery began.
