A family discovers an abandoned kitten on the street – after a closer look, they realize it’s a unique species.

Upon closer inspection, the family realized this kitten was no ordinary cat, prompting them to turn to the Wildlife Friends Foundation of Thailand (WFFT) for help.
After a thorough examination, WFFT determined that the kitten belonged to a rare species known as the fishing cat, which is currently threatened with extinction.
Unlike typical domestic cats, fishing cats are larger in size and have a strong affinity for hunting and eating fish.
The kitten, whom the family later named Simba, quickly became a beloved member of the household.
Despite the hope that the mother cat would return, she never did, prompting the family to take on the responsibility of caring for Simba.
Simba’s survival is not only a miracle, but also crucial to the conservation of his species, given the high mortality rate of fishing cats in Thailand due to poaching and retaliatory killings.
