Piano prodigy Ryan Wang presented a unique private concert for 101-year-old Dorothy Landry, following his extraordinary performances on “The Ellen Show” and at Carnegie Hall. Hosted by Canadian digital music distributor CBC Music, 5-year-old Ryan performed “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” exclusively for Landry.
Despite Dorothy’s hearing impairment, which prevented her from fully enjoying Ryan’s concerts, she had been a fan since the age of three. As a sincere gesture, CBC Music organized a private performance for her to experience the music more intimately.
As she sat in her wheelchair, Dorothy was joined by Ryan, who was holding a large teddy bear and eagerly awaiting the performance. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to play for her, Ryan affectionately referred to her as “Grandma Dorothy,” giving her a beaming smile.
In return, Dorothy praised Ryan as a “very special little person” and eagerly awaited his future performances.
She even extended an invitation to him to visit her again after his upcoming trip to China, expressing her heartfelt gratitude.
This unique musical connection highlights the strength of intergenerational ties and the universal language of music.
