You see, in Kastamonu, Türkiye, it is not uncommon for “dog owners” to abandon their puppies in landfills and mountainous areas. And now that people knew about Sebahat’s act of kindness, they had begun intentionally leaving the cubs there.
It’s simple: Sebahat knows she can’t leave the puppies alone. At the same time, she is also aware that it is impossible to save all the homeless puppies at once. So instead of panicking, Sebahat set his priorities.
She will start by going to areas where abandoned tiger cubs are almost impossible to survive. She begins her journey by waking up at dawn every morning. She will then collect blankets, water and food and set off to the mountains in search of new cubs.
Of course, puppies love to see their savior – and not just because she brings them food and water or tries to give them a better shelter. The puppies know that Sebahat really cares about them and loves her for the company she gives them.
And after being cruelly abandoned by the previous “owner”, it is true that the puppies have finally found happiness in the form of a loving human.
The journey doesn’t end there. To this day, Sebahat visits 5 areas daily to give abandoned puppies everything she has (and more). Despite his actions to help the homeless, Sebahat doesn’t like leaving them out in the open without any protection.
Fortunately, this sparked an idea that would initiate a slow (but necessary) change. With the help of a few volunteers, Sebahat started building crates to shelter the puppies.
Sebahat and the puppies are still forces to be reckoned with. The cruel actions of others only made them more determined to beat the odds. “I’m just doing what we all have to do,” Sebahat said. “And I will never give up.”
