During a recent concert, Vince Gill paid tribute to his wife Amy Grant. Grant was in a cycling accident last month, which forced her to postpone her trips. Vince is currently on tour with the Eagles, and the singer’s daughter Corinna Gill joined him on Thursday, August 4 at the Ryman Auditorium. Corinna joined her father on stage for a duet of When My Amy Prays from his 2019 album Okie. Corrina felt upset during the performance, comparing herself to her father and singing “when my mother prays” instead of “when my Amy prays”. After Grant’s accident, a message on her Instagram page indicated that she had been treated and told to stay at home until she fully recovered.

Vince Gill and Amy Grant relationship
Vince Gill and Amy Grant married in 2000. They first met in 1993 while preparing to shoot the video for the title track from Grant’s 1994 album House of Love. Grant described their first meeting as “instant familiarity”, and she was so struck by him as a human being that she hugged him as he sang. Gill was inspired by Grant and composed a song called Whenever You Come Around which he performed at the Ryman in 2015.
“I was inspired to write this poem by the smile I saw for the first time on the face of a lady I had never met.” Amy Grant did it in 1993. I was so touched when I saw that smile that I went home and wrote this poem. I had no idea that after all these years we would end up together and have children… “Life is fun.”
They had feelings for each other, even though they were married at the time. After divorcing their previous relationships, they married in 2000. Grant’s children were reportedly not ready to join a new family. Corrina, daughter of Grant and Gill, was born in March 2001.
Personal lives of Vince Gill and Amy Grant
Vince Gill first married Janis Oliver in 1980. The couple met in Los Angeles and had a daughter, Jenny, in 1982. They divorced in 1997. Amy Grant, on the other hand, had a husband named Gary Chapman. They were married in June 1982 and have three children. Due to irreconcilable differences, Grant and Chapman divorced in 1999. When asked why she divorced Vince, Grant explained that it wasn’t because she loved him. She said,
“From the beginning, Gary and I had a bumpy ride. I believe what has been so difficult – and this is what one of our advisers said – is that occasionally an innocent person can walk into a situation and act like a huge spotlight. What they’re doing is highlighting a terrible dynamic that’s already there.”
Vince Gill became famous in the 1970s as the frontman of the band Pure Prairie League. He had a huge solo career, released 20 studio albums and 40 singles, and received several awards, including two Grammys. Amy Grant is best known as the “Queen of Christian Pop”, having sold over 30 million CDs. The singer has six Grammy Awards and 22 Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association.
