A Look Into Jordan Peterson And Tammy Peterson’s Married Life

Jordan Peterson has been a popular topic of discussion on the internet lately. His divisive stance on various socio-political issues made him an intriguing and often provocative figure. But he is not the only one who attracts attention when he says something provocative on the Internet. His family, especially wife Tammy Peterson and daughter Mikhaila Peterson, are getting attention. The family was by his side even before he became famous. And his wife, especially, had known him since they were children in a small suburb.

Jordan Peterson and his wife shared interests in books, science and politics

Jordan and Tammy were eight years old when they first met. They shared a street in Fairview, northern Alberta, a community of 2,000 people. Their lives were intertwined in many ways from the very beginning. They went to the same high school and his father was one of her elementary school teachers. They spent time together outside of school playing with her science kit and chess, which he taught her.

They later discovered their passion for literature through their high school librarian, and Tammy led him to fantastical works like 1984, Brave New World, and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovič, the latter of which sparked a lifelong fascination with the Soviets and communism. He saw parallels in how he and her side of the family talked politics and went to prom together as they got older. Despite this, Jordan and Tammy were not a couple.

They were mostly great friends until high school when they drifted apart. He studied political science and English literature at Grande Prairie Regional College before moving to the University of Alberta to complete his BA in 1982. He received his BA in Psychology from the University of Alberta in 1984. He traveled to Montreal a year later to earn his Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

Tammy studied kinesiology full time at the University of Ottawa. Jordan saw Jane Siberry perform at McGill in 1987. The artist reminded him a lot of Tammy. So he invited her to Thanksgiving in Montreal. She agreed and soon they moved in. It took her three proposals to agree and they were married in 1989. He subsequently earned a Ph.D. in 1991.

“If I don’t marry Jordan, I don’t know what he’s doing with his life,” Tammy said of her choice to marry Jordan in 2019. “And he’s going to be an intriguing guy.”

Jordan Peterson’s daughter Mikhaila and son Julian

Jordan and Tammy’s first child, Mikhaila Peterson, was born on January 4, 1992. Her name was inspired by Mikhail Gorbachev. After her birth, Jordan moved the Peterson family to Boston, where she got a place at Harvard. Julian Peterson, the couple’s second child, was born there. Mikhaila was only two years old when her health problems started. When she was seven years old, she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Her despair and anxiety worsened the situation, and at the age of ten she started taking anti-depressants. She needed her first hip and ankle replacement when she was 17. She suffered from a variety of ailments until she embarked on an elimination diet of her own design, which she says relieved most of them, including her arthritis and depression. She is now a health influencer, entrepreneur and podcast host. Julian Peterson is the least known member of the Peterson family. However, he has his father’s and sister’s business and creative talent. He is a developer, business owner and musician.
