the scientist
He is considered an expert in the field of composite materials. He has authored many national and international papers in the field of composite materials. During his first days at SDSC, he joined the Fiber Reinforced Plastics Division of VSSC. He played a key role in the development of numerous key composite products. His efforts paved the way for the advancement of composite technologies in Indian industry, especially in space projects.
deputy director
He was appointed Deputy Director of the Propulsion and Space Ordinance Entity (PRSO) in 2017 following the failure of the PSLV C39 mission due to abnormal behavior of the payload fairing separation system. He leads a team that oversees system reviews to resolve issues and improve ordnance system production methods and procedures to improve the overall reliability of the system. He also works on improving analytical methods for various systems. These efforts resulted in the development of a more reliable high-temperature separation system configuration for the payload fairing. This new configuration proved successful in subsequent releases. While serving as Deputy Director of the Composites Entity, he led the development of multiple composite products such as solar panel substrates, different types of antennas, the large Ogive payload fairing with a diameter of 5 meters and a height of 10.7 meters, inter-tank structures wait. He has worked on many innovations in composite materials for satellite and launch vehicle subsystems. He also held on-going responsibilities for a number of VSSC entities, including the Propulsion and Space Ordinance Entity (PRSO), Aerospace Ordnance Entity (ASOE), Composites Entity (CMSE), and Structural Entity (STR).
director
In July 2019, he was appointed as a director of SDSC. As Director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre, he is responsible for the successful production of solid motors and strengthening of the launch complex infrastructure to meet the growing launch requirements of ISRO covering a wide range of missions including those related to the Human Spaceflight Program (Gaganyaan) and small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). Under his leadership, significant improvements were made in the configuration and development of cutting-edge facilities for solid motor production and launch vehicle integration, thereby streamlining the production, integration and launch of ISRO satellite launch vehicles in a very short period of time. He is actively committed to making various industries partners with ISRO to jointly develop key technologies. He has made significant contributions to ISRO’s several Indian planetary missions, including the Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2 missions, which confirmed the presence of water molecules on the moon.
