Verizon was an email service operated by Verizon Communications. It had all the necessary features that you get with a free email service. The email service was easily accessible using a webmail platform as well as client-based email software.
“At the last count, it had about 4.5 million users, with about 2.5 million active users.”
Everything was going well until 2017 when Verizon announced its closure and discontinued its email services to shift its focus to other services such as television, internet and IPTV. Those with Verizon.net email addresses were asked to keep their Verizon email addresses by switching to AOL or Yahoo mail, but now that’s no longer possible.
Sign up for a new Verizon account
After Verizon announced it was ending its services in 2017, it gave its customers some time to switch their email addresses from www.verizon.net to AOL or Yahoo within the deadline. Also, when it announced the AOL acquisition, it discontinued its email segment, and now those who want to sign up for a new Verizon email account can sign up at mail.aol.com or yahoo.com.
Steps to sign in to Verizon.net
As you know, you can no longer create a new Verizon email account, but if you have migrated your account to AOL or Yahoo mail, you can still access your old email accounts by visiting the AOL login page or the Verizon Yahoo mail page.
- Enter your full Verizon email address and then tap “Next” on the Verizon email login page.
- Enter your password and click ‘Login’; this will give you access to your email.
Signing up for Verizon by email only involves these two steps above, just make sure you enter the correct information. Be careful with the password if it is case sensitive and caps lock should be off if not in use.

Access Verizon with third-party email clients
Even if Verizon email is managed by AOL, you can still access it through a third-party email client like Outlook or on your Android and iPhone devices simply by entering the correct Verizon email settings.
After you’ve migrated your Verizon.net email to AOL or Yahoo mail, here are the settings you can use to set up your Verizon account in a third-party email client:
Protocol | server configuration | connection settings |
POP 3 | Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net | POP3-995-SSL SMTP-465-SSL |
IMAP | Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.aol.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net | IMAP-993-SSL SMTP-465-SSL |
When entering your account information, please use your full email address, including @verizon.net, and make sure SSL encryption is enabled for both incoming and outgoing mail.
Common problems signing in to Verizon.net
Just like any other email client, Verizon also has no login issues, one of the most common Verizon email issues. As you know, the old Webmail.verizon.com and Verizon.Net email websites are no longer active, you should visit aol.mail.com or verizon.yahoo.com.
The next important thing to consider is that you must enter your complete and correct @verizon.net email address.
To sign in to your Verizon Wireless account or MyVerizon FIOS account, go to Verizon Wireless or MyVerizon.
Here are other things you can try to fix Verizon email login problems:
- Your Internet must be working or change to one with better bandwidth.
- Double-check your password and make sure you use the correct upper and lower case letters.
- Try using a different device to access your Verizon email account.
- Switch to incognito mode, then try signing in to your Verizon email
- Clear your browser’s cache, cookies, and history, then try signing in again.
- Be sure to temporarily disable all plug-ins, add-ons, antivirus, and antimalware, as this can interfere with the login process.
If you have a problem with Verizon, you can use Verizon Email Support.
