A woman notices hairs on the road and knows what to do

That day, Natalie Therese and her partner were driving home from a Columbia riverside motel in Washington. Suddenly they saw a big ball of fur in the middle of the road.

Therese had a feeling that they had to stop. Her partner thinks it’s just a lump of dirt or something. But not so! As they got closer, she realized who they were – three baby otters stuck in the street.

Therese realized that she had seen the mother otter run away from the oncoming car. Babies are too young to know what to do. They just stopped there and were alone. A frightened mother watched them from the nearby woods.

Therese decided that she needed to help them. She began to direct the trembling children in the right direction. “I gently encouraged them to take to the streets,” Therese said. She leads them towards their mother, who is waiting to make sure that each of them knows what to do.

Therese stood in the back of the car and waited until the mother was out and all three children ran out into the street together. Then she waited a few more minutes to make sure he didn’t run back into the street.

Therese was emotional and tearful at the whole experience. “Nature and its creatures are beautiful,” she said.
