Aaron Erb Says Brother Noah Warned Him, 'Don't Make an Ass of Yourself' Before Going on The Bachelorette (Exclusive)

Aaron Erb reveals the advice his twin brother Noah — and Bachelor Nation co-star — gave him before moving on Bachelor.

Aaron was very keen on the other contestants on Jenn Tran’s season Men say everything after giving Devin a self-development book in the middle of an argument earlier in the episode. Speaking to PEOPLE, Aaron admits that his brother actually gave him that book, along with some guidelines he didn’t exactly follow.

“I think he said, ‘Don’t make an ass of yourself,'” he says with a laugh. “And I said, ‘I don’t know what that means.’ But yes, he tried to give me advice, but you have to figure it out yourself. There’s really no advice other than ‘be yourself.'”

As for the book, Aaron says he’s read it and it actually has some “sentimental” value.

“I read that book a lot,” he explains. “It really started me on my journey of self-discovery. It honestly changed my life. It’s a short read — it’s something I brought because it has some very simple lessons to learn. I didn’t bring the book with the intention of giving it away.”

However, he defends his decision to offer it to Devin, talking about how his brother Noah was on the receiving end of a similar situation when he appeared in season 16. Bachelor.

“I feel that it was the right move and I put myself in someone else’s shoes, [asking myself]’How can I care about someone at that moment?'” he says. “It was funny how much attention it got.”

During the Men Tell All special event on August 27, the men called out Aaron for disrespecting Devin by giving him a book about learning emotional intelligence. Even Noah didn’t approve.

“We were together in the womb, but I don’t think the book is the main move,” Noah told Aaron. “I don’t think anyone should tell someone that they are ready or not ready. We all have our own journey.”

Although he was in hot water for a while, joking that he felt like he was “stepping on my neck,” Aaron tells PEOPLE that it was nice to be back with the group.

“It started out hot and heavy,” he begins. “It’s good to see everyone. I think it was therapeutic in a way for everyone just to get it all out there. I don’t take anything personally. I know it’s all love at the end of the day. But yeah, it definitely got heated, especially when Jenn came out and shot an arrow right at me, which I wasn’t ready for.”

On the July 15 episode, Aaron became frustrated with Devin after he pulled Jenn from a group date for a one-on-one date. After confronting Devin about the book, he told Jenn that some of the guys weren’t there for the right reasons, but wouldn’t name who.

He eventually went home on his own, and later admitted at the hearing that he was referring to Devin, Sam N., and Spencer.
