Abhishek Banerjee is an Indian politician and social worker. In 2014, he was elected as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha from the Diamond Harbor constituency. He is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Abhishek Banerjee was born on November 8, 1987 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, to a Brahmin family (Age: 36: as of 2023). He received his primary education from Nava Nalanda High School, Kolkata and MP Birla Foundation High School, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. For higher education, he studied at the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, New Delhi, where he received his BBA and MBA in Human Resources and Marketing.

In 2011, he became the national president of the All India Trinamool Youth Congress. Abhishek Banerjee contested the 2014 general elections from Diamond Harbor constituency on the All India Trinamool Congress ticket and defeated Dr Abul Hasnat of the Communist Party of India (CPI). In the same year, Abhishek was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee on Commerce, the Advisory Committee and the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. In 2015, he became a member of the Railway Convention Committee (RCC).
He contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Diamond Harbor constituency in West Bengal and defeated Abhijit Das of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 71,09,30 votes.

- In 2015, he sparked controversy at a public rally. Abhishek said the government led by his aunt Mamata Banerjee killed Communist Party of India (Maoist) leader Koteshwar Rao, also known as Kishenji. He said: “During the four years of (Mamata Banerjee’s) rule, only one person died (in Janja Maha). By killing him, the Mamata Banerjee government proved that the people have the final say ”
- That same year, he publicly threatened: “Anyone who dares to glare at us, we will pluck out their eyes and throw them into the road. Show us your hands and we can chop them off.”
- In 2019, his wife was caught by customs at Kolkata Airport carrying 2 kilograms of gold. Abhishek called the report baseless and politically motivated.
- On August 30, 2022, he was summoned by the ED in connection with the investigation of the “coal theft scam”.
- The Calcutta High Court on May 18, 2023, dismissed a petition filed by Mr. Banerjee in which he had requested the court to quash the earlier order of the same court under which investigative agencies like CBI and ED could question him in connection with the school job scam ;Fine Rs. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on him. In September 2023, the Enforcement Directorate interrogated Banerjee for about nine hours in connection with the case. Talking about the interrogation in an interview, Banerjee said he would continue in his position as CEO of Leaps and Bounds Private Limited, which was allegedly involved in the case. He further claimed that the Department of Education lacked any substantive evidence against him and that the agency had been raising similar questions about his company as it had done in previous cases involving coal and cattle.
