Adam Rippon is a former American figure skater whose full name is Adam Richard Rippon. He started skating in 1999 and retired in 2018 when he was a member of the New York Skating Club. He is known for winning numerous championships in the United States and abroad.

Adam Rippon was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 11, 1989. He was born into an Irish Catholic family as the first of six children. He was born with severe hearing loss, which required surgery before completing his freshman year at Yale University. Fortunately, he was able to regain his hearing.
His parents divorced when he was 15 years old, in 2004. His mother’s name is Kelly, and she was a former skater and dancer who taught him to skate when he was little, and he started skating for the first time at the age of ten.

Career
Adam Rippon started skating at the age of ten, and in 2000 he started working with Yelena Sergeeva, who coached him for seven years until 2007. In the 2004-05 season. he won his first silver medal at the 2005 USA Championships. He also competed in the junior category of the Triglav Trophy in 2005, where he won a gold medal. He competed in several other junior championships before leaving Sergeeva in 2007 and joining Nikolai Morozov in February of that year.
Rippon has never missed a championship since 2007, which has happened every year. During the 2007/08 season, he competed at the ISU Junior Grand Prix, where he won gold and silver medals, qualifying him for the finals. He won another gold medal and went on to compete at the 2008 USA Championships, where he won the junior title.
He made his senior debut in the 2008-09 season. He sprained his ankle and had to miss some practices during the 2009-10 season, finishing sixth overall that year. During the 2010–11 season, he finished fifth at the 2011 US Championships, while in the 2011–12 season, he finished fourth out of four continents and thirteenth overall.
In September 2012, Rippon changed coaches and began working with Rafael Arutyunyan. He was supposed to compete at the Four Continents in 2013, but had to withdraw due to an ankle injury. He achieved his next victory in 2016, when he won another gold medal at the USA Championships. He was forced to withdraw from the 2017 USA Championships due to a broken ankle. In November 2018, he announced his retirement from figure skating.
