Adele Is Taking a Break from the Spotlight — Here's All the Times She's Done It Before 30

Adele is gearing up for a break again.

At a recent concert in Munich, the 36-year-old “Hello” singer told fans in the audience that she will be stepping away from the spotlight “for an incredibly long time” after her Las Vegas residency ends in November.

In a TikTok posted by fans, Adele said: “I have 10 shows to do, but after that I won’t see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you in my heart.”

Adele is scheduled to perform the final 10 shows of her Weekends with Adele residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace from October 25th to November 23rd. The residency started in November 2022.

The “Easy on Me” singer has taken various breaks from the spotlight in the past, including a six-year gap between her albums 25 and 30.

Between ’25’ and ’30’

In 2020, Adele was caught announcing her return to music while performing at her best friend’s wedding. In a video on Instagram, she told her friends to “wait for my album in September.”

Prior to the announcement, Adele had not released music since 2015 25which featured hit songs like “Hello” and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover).” The album won her five Grammys in 2017, including Album of the Year. She then went on tour from February 2016 to June 2017.

In the intervening years, Adele stayed out of the spotlight. However, she made headlines for her weight loss.

“She looked like herself, but also so different — beautiful, but almost unrecognizable,” a source told PEOPLE of Adele’s appearance at the Oscars after party.

During this break, she also confirmed her split from ex Simon Konecki after more than seven years together.

In November 2021, Adele came out 30. When she announced the official release date, she opened up about what she’s been through in recent years.

“I was certainly nowhere near what I hoped to be when I first started [this album] almost 3 years ago,” she wrote on Instagram. “Actually just the opposite. I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, always have. And yet there I was, knowingly – even willingly, throwing myself into a labyrinth of absolute disorder and inner turmoil!”

She added: “I learned a lot of brilliant truths about myself along the way. I shed many layers, but I also wrapped myself in new ones. I’ve discovered really helpful and healthy mentalities to guide myself with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my sense of self again. I would go so far as to say that I have never felt more at peace in my life.”

Adele releases fourth studio album ’30’ — her first project in 6 years

Between ’21’ and ’25’

In May 2014, Adele celebrated her 25th birthday by fueling rumors of her 2015 album. 25.

“Bye bye 25 See you again later in year x,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of herself lying in bed giving a thumbs up.

“I live in a cave, but she has achieved an incredible amount,” the musician reportedly said. “I really love her voice.”

At the Hollywood Reporter’s Women In Entertainment Gala in December 2023, she opened up about her hiatus.

“The real reason I’ve only had four albums and I don’t think a lot of people know it – they know I have a child – my son is 11,” she said.

“So, if you’re counting, that means that at the height of 21… I got pregnant. For many, it would be, and is, considered career suicide.”

She added: “That’s when I decided to let go of the lack of success and the idea that you have to be constantly relevant to be successful.”
