Aegon, Aemond & Helaena Get Modern Makeovers In House of the Dragon Fan Art

Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena Targaryen received a modern makeover treatment in stunning new House of the Dragon fan art. Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel, Fire & Blood, the new HBO series proved to be another successful series from the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Breaking viewership records, House of the Dragon was well-received by critics and fans alike for its compelling drama and captivating performances. Set nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the prequel show centers on the brewing conflict within House Targaryen following King Viserys I Targaryen’s (Paddy Considine) decision to appoint his daughter Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) as heir to the Iron Throne.

Following the death of his beloved wife, Aemma Aryn (Sian Brooke), Viserys remarries to Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey/Olivia Cooke) and bears four children. However, only Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena are featured in the show. The three silver-haired siblings grow up in the Red Keep until their grandfather, Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), usurps the throne after Viserys’ death and anoints Aegon as the new king of Westeros. With Helaena as Aegon’s wife, and Aemond by his brother’s side, the trio will prove a formidable foe against their half-sister, Rhaenyra, when she comes for them during the Dance of the Dragons.

What’s Next For Aegon, Aemond & Helaena On House of the Dragon

Following the death of Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault) at the hands of Aemond and his dragon Vhagar, the trio will understand that their royal coup has real consequences that could lead to their deaths and the deaths of their loved ones. As Rhaenyra previously entertained the idea of peace, such a proposition will no longer be on the table after her son’s death. She will assemble her allies and engage the royal family with the intent to even the casualties. With the Dance of the Dragons civil war all but assured, the Greens will finally face the pent-up aggression Rhaenyra has held within her for years.

Aegon, Aemond, Alicent, and Otto will likely be Rhaenyra and her husband’s, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), main targets as they are the direct cause of all of Rhaenyra’s strife. However, swift violent retribution may lead to collateral damage as well, possibly affecting Helaena and her children. No one will be safe from the familial war to come. With House of the Dragon season 2 set for a 2024 release, audiences have to be patient to see what comes next for the royal siblings.
