After completing his formal education, Afzal started running his family business. However, being dissatisfied with his job, he decided to quit and moved to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. In 1999, he appeared in the Bollywood film “Tower House”. The film was a flop and performed poorly at the box office. He made his debut in the Hindi entertainment industry in 2001 with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a Hindi daily soap opera produced by Ekta Kapoor, in which he played a spoiled child. I came to Mumbai and started looking for some good works and then I came to know that there was a show called Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi which was auditioning and my token number was 701 and they were looking for a role and I got the role in the show , the role was spoiled, the brat was a negative character, I was told it was an 8-10 day role and I accepted the job. “
In the same year, Afzaal Khan played a role in the Zee TV series “Kitne Kool Hai Hum” produced by Ekta Kapoor. According to Afzal, Ekta offered him a role in the show as she was impressed by his performance in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
