I spent 10 months preparing for the UPSC Civil Services exam. I did not join any coaching classes to crack the exam. I had to switch off my phone, social media, everything and focus on the exam and here it is. But it was not that I suddenly developed an interest in studying. I have always been diligent. “I thought I should try civil services because of the diversity of the family and the ultimate idea is to serve the country. In the army, there are opportunities for women to grow but it is still very limited. In the civil services, there is no limit to what a woman can achieve.”
Commenting on her achievement, Abhishek Singh, Deputy Commissioner of India in New Delhi, tweeted:
It’s great to see people pursuing different interests in life choosing Civil Services as a career. #NewIndia needs #NewAgeOfficers to make the Civil Services more representative, open and modern! Welcome to #AishwaryaSheoran Rank 93, CSE 19; top model, now an officer!!”
