When Akassa was 17, Akassa’s family friend, Indian singer Mika Singh, introduced her to the industry by including her in her band. In the band, she is the only girl among the 10 male members over the age of 40. She travels with the band to perform live performances and concerts around the world.
Her career took off when her YouTube videos went viral, and she later participated in a singing reality show. At the beginning of her career, she signed with record label Sony Music India through a reality show.

Akasa Singh started her career as an actress at the age of 15; she played the lead role in a Punjabi daily soap opera. She has been acting for a year, during which time she also appeared in several youth shows on Channel V and other channels. She came into limelight with the 2014 Indian singing reality show “India’s Raw Star” and was mentored by Indian pop singer Himesh Reshammiya. Impressed with her voice, Himish Reshammiya promised to give her a breakthrough in Bollywood. She finished in the top five of the show but did not win.
In 2016, she appeared on MTV’s Rock Angels, traveling across India with fellow Bollywood singers Jasmine Sandlas, Shalmali Kholgade and Anusha Mani, meeting women with inspiring stories. Akasa wrote and composed two songs for the female empowerment-oriented show.
In the same year, she played Pia in the romantic drama Ye Hai Ashqui. The episode follows an orphan named Nick who makes ends meet by working in a garage and winning bike races, and a girl named Pia who is set up by her boyfriend and Nick’s nemesis Adi to distract Nick from winning Attention for the upcoming game.
In 2018, she made her TV hosting debut with MTV Beat’s “Secret Side.” Speaking about the opportunity to host a TV show, she said:
I’ve always loved talking and interacting with people (and obviously I ask a lot of questions), so hosting makes it legit. “
In 2021, she appeared as a contestant on the popular Indian reality game show “Bigg Boss 15”.

As promised in the show “India’s Raw Stars” (2014), Himesh Reshammiya gave Akasha the opportunity to sing for the song “Kheech Meri Photo” in the movie “Sanam Teri Kasam” (2016) “Dubbing. Known as the selfie anthem, the song earned Akasa huge popularity.
She has since lent her voice to the songs “Kudi Gujarat Di” in the film “Sweetiee Weds NRI” (2017), “Aithey Aa” in the film “Bharat” (2019) and “Prem Pujari” in the film “Drive” (2019 ). She worked as a playback singer for the songs “Take Me High” and “Rafta Rafta” in the web series “Maaya: Slave to Her Desire” (2017) and in the Indian erotic thriller web series “Twisted 2” (2017). She lent her voice to the song “Raat Ki”. Another famous song in her career is “Dil Na Jaaneya” from the film Good Newwz (2019), in which she collaborated with American pop singer LAUV.

In 2018, she released her debut pop single “Thug Ranjha”. “Thug Ranjha” was the most viewed Indian video on YouTube in the world in 2018 and gained huge popularity, surpassing 27 million views in one month. The song is composed and written by Vayu.
In 2019, she released the party song “Maaserati”. In the same year, she shot to fame with her hit song “Naagin”, which racked up over 180 million views within three months of its release.
In 2020, she collaborated with Indian rapper Raftaar to release a song titled “Naiyyo”. This lighthearted and quirky song talks about relationship drama and heartbreak. Another hit song “Shola” by Akasa with Nepali actor Rohit Saraf was released in 2021.

Akassa starred in an episode called “Pitch Perfect,” in which she went on a virtual date with a celebrity manager, a commercial pilot and a fashion photographer.

- When talking about her stage image in an interview, she revealed that she grew up with her brothers and had not considered society’s code of conduct for girls. she says,
I have only had brothers since I was little. Growing up, I never once had a second thought about anything, wondering if I was behaving inappropriately as a girl. I did what I saw my brothers do.
