Akshata Murty is an Indian businesswoman and fashion designer living in the United Kingdom. She is the wife of Rishi Sunak, the 57th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She is the daughter of NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder of multinational IT company Infosys.

She attended Claremont McKenna College in California, graduating with majors in Economics and French. Akshata Murty’s husband is Rishi Sunak, the 57th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On August 30, 2009, they held a simple wedding at the Leela Palace Hotel in Bangalore. According to some media reports, she has non-domiciled tax status in the UK, which exempts her from tax on dividend benefits received from overseas companies. Her husband, Rishi Sunak, has since faced charges over his wife’s income from Russia, where Murthy’s company Infosys operated even during the Russo-Ukrainian war . Later, Infosys announced in a statement that it was withdrawing services from Russia.
