This theme has been prevalent in Alex’s household for a long time. Her mother, a native Englishwoman who was born and raised there, was the granddaughter of a market trader who, when he was ten, defused bombs that fell in his Essex yard during the Blitz and used to aim at the Luftwaffe from Southend Pier.
Although her family tree crosses that of Winston and the 1st Duke of Marlborough, Alexa’s grandfather came from the Roman army stationed at Hadrian’s Wall.
Her father immigrated to England in the 1970s from Pakistan. Alex came from the mobile army of Alexander the Great to his side. It’s actually amazing that she hasn’t tried to invade Wales or the Isle of Wight yet as her grandfather (on her father’s side) was one of the millions of men from the subcontinent who fought for the British in WW2!
Alex made his television debut in 2009 in an episode of Timewatch on the air war of 1918. Since then he has appeared regularly in military history films, discussing the two world wars, the wars of the Victorian era and the hostilities that took place after 1945. In the latest episode of UKTV- of this series World War Weird is shown describing the strange events that occurred during the war.
Alex has also been asked to plan, research and appear in programs commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster and the sinking of the Lusitania thanks to her knowledge of nautical history. He was the first to receive a television BAFTA nomination.
In addition, Alex is the author of best-selling novels about the First World War, Eton College boys and the Battle of the Somme.
She is the co-founder and host of the popular locksmith podcast History Hack, which has already had 500,000 downloads. Alex also oversees The Great War Group, a brand new not-for-profit organization set up to preserve the memory of the war and stimulate interest in the war.
In addition, Alex serves as the editor-in-chief of the magazine. The publication is a huge success and consistently receives excellent reviews.
He is also pursuing his MR in History at graduate level.
Alex rejects the culture of cancellation. She believes that people are intelligent and will understand that history is not clear if you just give her a platform to explain why borders are ambiguous.
