Some people want everything, but Alicia Keys’ son Genesis just wanted to meet Taylor Swift again!
During an appearance Friday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonKeys, 43, described what it was like raising Swiftie in her youngest son Swizz Beatz.
As she explained, the nine-year-old first met Swift when he was younger at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, sitting next to the musician. In a video shared by host Jimmy Fallon, Genesis could be seen playfully waving to the 34-year-old “Karma” singer as his mom gave a speech on stage.
“He was flirting… I was pouring out my heart to all my thanks, and he was [waving at Swift],” Keys joked.

Keys then mentioned the time Genesis got to hang out with Swift during a stop on her Eras Tour in August 2023. At the time, Keys applauded Swift on Instagram for her “big beautiful spirit that makes everyone feel loved.”
“They met again recently, and he said, ‘Will she remember me?’ And that was the whole thing,” Keys said Tonight’s show. “He said, ‘She’s known me since I was three, hasn’t she, mom?’ ”
The meeting went smoothly, as Keys shared behind-the-scenes footage of Genesis receiving both a kiss on the cheek and a touching message from his idol.

Genesis’ adoration extends beyond Swift, as he’s also a huge fan of Billie Eilish, Keys revealed on Tonight’s show. Keys said Genesis even tried to convince his mom to let him leave her a voicemail at one point.
“He just asked me every day, ‘Mom, can I please leave her a voicemail?’ And I say: ‘I don’t know.’ Like, what kind of voicemail are you going to leave her? He said, ‘I’m just gonna say, like, … I’d like to be friends and I really like her music.’ And so he leaves her this whole message after harassing me for days,” Keys laughed. “And then he continued harassing me [about] if she texted him back.”
“And so every night when I couldn’t sleep, he wakes me up in the morning,” she added. “She won’t go to sleep at night. ‘Did she text me? Did she text me? Did she text me? Did she leave me a message?’ She left him a message. Can you believe it? It was so sweet… Much love to Billie and Taylor.”
Although Eilish’s message to Genesis was not released on air, Swift’s message to Genesis during her visit to the Eras Tour in August surprised him. In a handwritten note, Swift wrote that she was “so excited” when she found out he was coming to the show, calling him her “friend.”
“I hope you have so much fun at the show,” Swift wrote. “And I’ll wave to you. With love, Taylor.”
In response, Genesis shared his own message for Swift via his mother’s social media: “Loved your show and happy to meet you again.”
