Alien: Romulus Trailer: Space Horror Franchise Returns in Terrifying First Look

Get ready for more space horrors.

The first teaser trailer for Alien: Romulus debuted on Wednesday, preparing fans for twists and turns as the crew of space travelers encounter the creatures on board.

Described as taking the franchise “back to its roots,” the synopsis reads: “While digging into the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in space.”

The cast includes Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Civil war), David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.

Fede Alvarez, who in 2013 The evil dead and Don’t breathe, directed from a script he wrote together with Rod Sayagues. Ridley Scott — who directed the original 1979 film Stranger as well as the series’ Prometheus (2012) and Alien: The Covenant (2017) entries — is a producer on the film.

Alvarez said Entertainment Weekly “he wanted to go back to his roots, at the time of the first film”, and that this sequel “takes place a few years” after the original film.

“We have puppetry, animatronics, all the old-school techniques,” hinted the director. “We had the right guys because they worked on the originals. So for some of the creatures, we needed those guys to nail the look and make them exactly like you’ve seen them in the past. But when we needed something new, we had those guys, so that we were sure we were true to the spirit of the original films.”
