- At age 13, she ran away from home because her mother, brothers, and sisters frequently beat her because of her sexual orientation. I was about 13 or 14 when I left home…I wandered the streets for four or five days. There is an NGO that works with the transgender community in Pakistan. I got a call from them saying they were making a short film called Honey and they asked me if I wanted to be a part of it? I said, “Yes, of course,” because my previous life was very different. I used to dance at events in Lahore where I lived alone. So I auditioned for Honey, and luckily, I got cast. “
