All About Kate Moss’ Younger Sister Lottie Moss

Modeling runs in the Moss family – both Kate Moss and her younger sister Lottie Moss have made names for themselves in the high fashion industry.

Kate was born in 1974 to Linda Shepherd and Peter Moss, and became famous on the catwalks and magazine covers in the 90s. Kate’s parents divorced when she was 14, according to 1994 records Spin interview, and Peter welcomed Lottie with model Inger Moss in 1998.

The younger Moss started modeling at the age of 16, in the magazine Teen Vogueand by 18 he had made it to the front page Vogue Paris. Lottie said it wasn’t always easy being Moss and being compared to her big sister, even if there were some perks. In a series of tweets in 2022, Lottie responded to social media commentators who called her a “nepo baby” and attributed her success to her famous last name.

Lottie wrote that she was “privileged to be in a relationship with a huge model” and added that she understood “it’s not fair that people who come from famous families get a leg up about it”. But at the end she added: “Life is not fair – if you put your mind to something, you can achieve anything!”

She and Kate are 24 years apart in age

Although they may share the same father, the sisters didn’t spend much time together growing up.

By the time Lottie was born, Kate was a household name nearing the peak of her modeling career. The younger Moss said Sun in 2023 that because of the 24-year age difference, she and Kate struggled to have a strong relationship.

“I love her. She’s my sister, but we’re just not close,” Lottie said.

While talking to Vogue In 2015, Lottie recalled playing the classic childhood game with her older sister when she was younger. “My first memory of my sister is that she was always dressing me up in her clothes, and when I was very young she would always put me in huge furs and these sparkly things,” said Lottie.

She was one of Kate’s bridesmaids

In 2011, Kate married Jamie Hince, of the indie-rock band The Kills. She had 12 bridesmaids wearing flowers, including her 8-year-old daughter Lila Grace and her 13-year-old sister. When the wedding photos were released, her dad got a scouting call from Sarah Doukas – the same agent who discovered Kate decades earlier.

“He was the one who was there with Kate when she was scouted at the airport at 14,” Lottie said. You Magazine 2019 “So Sarah said, ‘Honestly, Peter, you should just put your genes in a box and give them to us.’ ”

In 2017, Lottie spoke with W Magazine on how “ridiculous” her discovery was: “My mom said, ‘Your sister is going to be so mad. No one noticed her, everyone wondered: ‘Who is that?’ ”

She is a model

Lottie started modeling as a teenager. She got her first gig for Teen Vogue at the age of 16 and continued to pose for Calvin Klein. She got her first cover, for Vogue Paris, when she was 18 years old.

Despite her success in front of the cameras, Lottie said afterwards how “harmful” it was to be in the public eye at that age.

In the essay for 2022 Glamor UK, she wrote: “When I started out, I was always just ‘Kate Moss’s sister.’ That was really hard for me growing up, especially since I wasn’t that close with my sister (we still don’t have a relationship now, which I never really talk about).”

She continued: “It’s hard when you have someone ‘close’ who does exactly the same job as you, who is already very prominent in the industry, but doesn’t have any advice or guidance.”

He has a face tattoo

In December 2022, Lottie got the word “lover” tattooed on her left cheek. She wrote in it Glamor UK essay that the ink was an expression of her journey of self-discovery after rehab.

Almost a year before she got the tattoo, in February 2022, Lottie announced that she was in rehab, although she did not reveal what she was being treated for. In November of that year, she said on Jamie Laing’s Private parts podcast that going to a treatment facility was “the best thing ever.”

“[I’m] to learn to love myself again while finally being freed from my former life,” she wrote for Glamor UK. “That’s why I decided to tattoo my face; the word ‘lover’ under my eye. Yes, it was impulsive, but after years of being so controlled, it was my way of expressing that I was free.”

He has a relationship with Kate’s daughter

Kate’s daughter Lila is five years younger than Lottie, which, according to the model, helped them become closer. said Lottie You Magazine 2019 that he sees Lila more as a “younger sister” than a niece and that they played together when they were younger.

Lottie also stayed with Lila and Kate at their villa in Gloucestershire during the COVID-19 quarantine. “Me and [Lila] she came closer,” she said Sun 2023. “But she lives in New York now [where she is a model], she lives her life. Sometimes we text and I see her outside. I don’t give her advice. I think my sister can give her modeling advice!”

She experienced backlash after starting an OnlyFans account

In her 2022 Glamor UK In the essay, Lottie wrote that she retired from modeling in April 2021, and that her best friend and fellow model, Sahara Ray, inspired her to open an OnlyFans account. After word got out, she said her collaboration with the brand was canceled and she was “kicked out of her agency.”

Despite this, Lottie added that she felt part of the community on OnlyFans and that it mentally put her in the “best place” she’s ever been.

“The modeling industry is so glamorous and OnlyFans is so denigrated, but OnlyFans is the only place I’ve ever felt this empowered and safe,” she wrote.

She opened up about her relationship with Kate

In August 2023, Lottie said Sun that she and Kate aren’t as close as people think.

“She doesn’t have to want to have a relationship with me,” Lottie said. “When I was younger, I couldn’t understand it… But now I’ve learned, especially talking to other friends who don’t talk to mom or dad, that family is complicated.”

“Just because she’s a top model doesn’t mean it’s any different in our family,” Lottie continued. “We just don’t agree on a lot of things. I love her. She’s my sister, but we’re just not close. It is, as it is.”
